These features benefit applications in the industrial, energy, Internet of Things (IoT), data center, and networking sectors. The GD24CL series has been designed with high reliability as a primary objective from its inception. The devices offer up to 4 million program/erase cycles, four times the industry standard, ensuring reliable operation in applications requiring frequent parameter updates. Furthermore, they offer data retention for up to 100 years, guaranteeing the long-term stability of stored information. Additionally, the devices incorporate a hardware-level Error Correction Code (ECC) function, which significantly improves data integrity and system reliability.
The series also supports a wide operating temperature range, from -40 °C to +125 °C, enabling its use in particularly demanding application environments. The GD24CL series supports three clock speeds: 100 kHz, 400 kHz, and 1 MHz, allowing it to meet diverse I²C communication requirements and cover applications ranging from low-speed sensing devices to high-speed industrial control systems. Furthermore, the devices enable random byte-level read and write operations, making them especially suitable for applications with frequent updates of small blocks of data and improving both operational flexibility and write efficiency at the system level. To address system security risks in complex operating environments, the GD24CL series incorporates hardware protection mechanisms designed to safeguard critical data.
The devices include a Write Protect (WP) pin that effectively prevents accidental writes caused by system anomalies, software failures, or malicious attacks. They also integrate a lockable Security Page. Once locked, the stored data is permanently protected against any writes, eliminating the risk of tampering and establishing a robust hardware-level security barrier. Regarding power consumption, the GD24CL series also offers significant advantages. The devices operate within a wide supply voltage range of 1.7 V to 5.5 V, with a standby current consumption of only 1 µA, a read current of 1 mA, and a write current of 1.5 mA. These low-power characteristics make the series particularly suitable for industrial IoT terminals, energy-efficient data centers, and other power-sensitive applications, promoting extended system operation. The growing trend towards more compact PCB designs in modern electronic products is aided by the simple, low-pin count I²C interface of the GD24CL series.
The devices are available in several compact packages, including 150 mil SOP8, 173 mil TSSOP8, and the even smaller 2 × 3 mm UDFN8, facilitating efficient and space-saving integration into customer designs. The GD24CL EEPROM series represents a new milestone in GigaDevice's memory portfolio and will be available in capacities ranging from 32 KB to 1 MB. The 256 KB GD24CL256B is the first device in the family and samples are already available. The 128 KB and 512 KB versions are slated for release in the first half of 2027, offering customers across multiple industries an even broader and more competitive range of storage solutions.
