Within its small, six-pin package, the sensor provides direct measurement of the x, y, and z magnetic axes, making it well-suited for measuring 3D motion, linear travel, and 360-degree angle rotation.
The Infineon TLV493D-A1B6 3D magnetic sensor, available from Mouser Electronics, delivers 12-bit data resolution across all three dimensions of a magnetic field, with side Hall plates for the Z-axis and vertical Hall plates for the x and y axes. Designers can utilize the TLV493D-A1B6 to measure a wide magnetic field range of ±150m Tesla across all three dimensions, enabling robust and flexible magnetic circuit design that covers a wide range of magnetic motion. With low power consumption of 10 μA during ultra-low power mode and 7 N/A in shutdown mode, the TLV493D-A1B6 provides contactless position sensing for applications using potentiometers or optical solutions. The sensor features a standard 2-wire digital I2C interface, enabling high-speed bidirectional communication between the sensor and an external microcontroller at speeds up to 1 Mbit per second.
The TLV493D-A1B6 operates with a supply voltage range of 2.7 V to 3.5 V and a temperature range of -40 to +125°C. JESD47 rated, the sensor is ideal for a wide range of industrial and consumer applications, including joysticks, appliance control elements, multifunction controllers, and internet measurement systems that utilize a 3D magnetic sensor for tamper protection.
Also available from Mouser, the Infineon TLV493D-A1B6 3D 2 GO Magnetic Sensor Evaluation Kit contains all the hardware needed to demonstrate the capabilities of the TLV493D-A1B6 sensor and two embedded ARM® Cortex®-based microcontrollers.
