The ML2253x series speech synthesis integrated circuits provide innovative technology and other features that enable increased security and greater application-level flexibility, thereby reducing overall system costs and simplifying hardware and software design.

Using a state-of-the-art compression method (HQ-ADPCM), the ML2253x series provides superior quality audio playback with reduced memory usage for audio data storage.

The integrated sound continuity detection re-digitizes the analog speaker output signal and compares it to playback data stored in internal or external memory. The main MCU receives feedback if the data exceeds a predefined value, for example, in the case of skipping.

In addition, several essential detection functions are also incorporated, such as the detection of short circuit errors, high temperatures, and command transfer errors, which contribute to improving reliability in automotive applications.

To increase development flexibility from day one and even after the final product has been shipped, the memory contents can be updated via the main MCU, once connected to a communications network (IoT).
