The AUIRFN8459 and AUIRFN8458 are the first in a family of automotive-grade dual 5x6mm PQFN power MOSFETs based on IR's most advanced 40V COOLiRFET™ trench technology. The AUIRFN8459 achieves an ultra-low Rds(on) of 5.9mOhm per channel and the ability to drive a high current of 50A.
These new dual 5x6mm COOLiRFET™ PQFN devices also offer a low thermal path to the printed circuit board and significantly improved thermal performance compared to an SO-8 package, resulting in higher efficiency, better power density, and overall system cost savings.
IR's automotive MOSFETs undergo dynamic and static device averaging testing, as well as 100% automated wafer visual inspection, as part of IR's Automotive Quality Initiative, which aims for zero defects. AEC-Q101 approval requires no more than 20% Rds(on) variation after 1,000 temperature test cycles.
The new device is approved to AEC-Q101 standards and features an environmentally friendly, lead-free, and RoHS-compliant materials list.

International Rectifier has launched the automotive-approved AUIRFN8459 and AUIRFN8458 COOLiRFET™ 40V power MOSFETs, which offer benchmark on-delay resistance (RDS(on)) for automotive applications requiring compact size and high current operation such as pump and body motor control.
