Microchip's radiation-resistant M6 MRH25N12U3 MOSFET provides the primary switching element in power conversion circuits such as point-of-load converters, DC/DC converters, motor drives and controls, and general switching applications. The MOSFET withstands harsh space environments, increases the reliability of power circuitry, and meets all MIL-PRF19500/746 requirements with enhanced performance. Microchip has completed Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) review and approval testing for the device's integration into the U.S. military supply chain (JANSR2N7593U3 certification is expected in June 2021).
The M6 MOSFET MRH25N12U3 is designed for future satellite system designs, as well as to serve as an alternative in existing systems.
The device can withstand a total ionization dose (TID) of up to 100 krad and 300 krad, as well as single phenomenon effects (SEE) with a linear energy transfer (LET) of up to 87 MeV/mg/cm2. It guarantees 100% resistance of the wafer batch to radiation in validation tests.
“Microchip’s entry into the radiation-resistant MOSFET market reflects our long-term commitment to supporting our customer base and providing high-performance solutions and continuous supply to aerospace and defense OEMs and integrators,” said Leon Gross, Vice President of the Group’s business unit
Microchip Discrete Products. “In addition to our proven quality and reliability, the M6 MRH25N12U3 represents a great value option for developers at an excellent price and offers them full application support.”.
The M6 MRH25N12U3 is part of Microchip's extensive portfolio of aerospace, defense, and space technologies, which includes FPGAs (field-programmable gate arrays), microprocessors, linear integrated circuits, power devices, discrete components, and power modules that integrate SiC and Si-based power solutions. Together with its microcontrollers and analog products, Microchip addresses the control needs of high-power systems, gate drives, and power stages, providing complete system solutions to developers worldwide.
Along with the introduction of the new technology, Microchip is collaborating with manufacturers and integrators in the space sector to ensure the supply chains of existing and future systems.
