The automotive sector is experiencing a rapid increase in the number of electronic components, driven by demands for greater safety and convenience. At the same time, there is a pressing need to improve energy efficiency to optimize fuel and electricity consumption. Especially in the case of MOSFETs, which are essential for switching applications in automotive systems, reducing conduction resistance is increasingly necessary to minimize losses and heat generation.

ROHM, which has been supplying low-resistance MOSFETs for industrial and consumer equipment for several years, has now extended this technology to the automotive sector. Adapting advanced medium-voltage processes to the stringent reliability requirements of automotive products enabled us to develop 10 N-channel MOSFET models characterized by low on-resistance.
The new products, offered with nominal voltages of 40 V, 60 V, and 100 V, incorporate a split-gate structure to achieve low conduction resistance, contributing to more efficient operation in automotive applications. All models are rated according to the AEC-Q101 automotive reliability standard, ensuring exceptional dependability.
Users can choose from three package types, depending on the application. For space-constrained equipment, such as advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), the compact DFN2020Y7LSAA (2.0 mm × 2.0 mm) and HSMT8AG (3.3 mm × 3.3 mm) packages are ideal. For automotive power applications, the widely used TO-252 (DPAK) (6.6 mm × 10.0 mm) package is available. Furthermore, ROHM has further improved assembly reliability by using Wettable Flank technology for the DFN2020Y7LSAA package and gull-wing leads for the TO-252 package.
In the future, ROHM plans to expand its range of medium-voltage N-channel MOSFETs to offer even greater miniaturization and efficiency for automotive applications. Series production of the DFN3333 (3.3 mm × 3.3 mm) and HPLF5060 (5.0 mm × 6.0 mm) packages is scheduled for October 2024, followed by the 80 V products in 2025. P-channel products are also planned for future release.
