transducers-lem-lf-xx-swLEM has developed a way for Hall effect technology to achieve the performance levels of fluxgate technology. The result is a Hall effect-based ASIC for closed-loop operation, and its first application is in the new LF xx10 transducer range. LEM's patented winding technique and specialized integrated circuits have significantly contributed to achieving these substantial improvements.

The new series breaks new ground and quadruples the total accuracy for the entire temperature range (from 0.25 to 0.6% of IPN) compared to the previous generation of closed-loop Hall effect current transducers, with a maximum offset drift of 0.1% of IPN.

With product features similar to those of fluxgate technology, customers not only gain better control and greater system efficiency, but also a significantly lower price, while avoiding drawbacks of fluxgate technology such as noise, starting with the primary current, and delayed restart after an overload.

When operating from a dual +/- 12 to +/- 24V power supply (depending on the model), the LF xx10 models can measure a higher current range than the previous generation, up to three times the nominal primary current (LF 510-S model) and with a fast response to a di/dt ramp with a response time of less than 0.5 µs, all thanks to a special design of the magnetic core and winding.

Another important advantage of the LF xx10 range is its low sensitivity to external AC and DC fields (up to five times better than the previous generation), which facilitates the implementation of the product in applications within adverse environments, as it is not affected by fields generated by other nearby components.

The new range is also fully compatible with LEM's previous LF xx05 range and occupies the same space, so it can be replaced in existing installations. It also offers several compact formats for each current range and various mounting topologies (flat or vertical), all without compromising the high level of isolation provided between the primary and measuring circuits.

Applications such as variable speed drives, servo motor drives, uninterruptible power supplies, switched-mode power supplies, battery-powered installations, welding power supplies, air conditioning systems, household appliances, static converters for DC motor drives, and robotics are integrating a greater number of transducers due to the high levels of control and automation that improve productivity and energy efficiency. In pursuit of optimal efficiency, these applications are leveraging the high performance and mounting versatility of the new LF xx10 series.

Its wide operating temperature range between -40 and +85°C also makes the LF xx10 series suitable for any industrial or traction application.

The LF xx10 series current transducers are CE marked and comply with EN 50178 and EN 50155 standards, and are backed by LEM's five-year warranty.

In summary, these new products have gone beyond the limits anticipated for Hall effect technology.
