The new wireless standalone series offers a variety of detection modes, including presence/absence, alignment, position, counting, monitoring, and detection. Battery life is up to five years, depending on the sensor model and application, and the enclosure is rated to IP67/NEMA 6.
Compared to wireless solutions that require connecting a separate sensor to a radio via cable, standalone units offer a more cost-effective way for both OEMs and end users to add the benefits of wireless communication. They are ideal for a wide range of industries, including automotive, food and beverage, material handling, waste management, water supply, and mobile equipment.
Signals from the sensors are received by a wireless network gateway that interfaces with all common PLC and HMI systems, as well as other industrial control systems. Basic gateways control two and six sensors, and the flexible system can be expanded for large-scale applications. Using a simple connection procedure, new sensors can be added to the network in minutes, as no cabling is required.
The wireless sensors are designed for rapid, low-cost deployment and reliable operation in a wide variety of situations, including providing a remote input for dry relay contacts, replacing damaged cable runs, adding sensors to mobile applications, replacing complex flat or trailing cabling, and connecting locations that were previously impossible or impractical to connect.
The secure, patented SureCross radio provides PLC-level functionality and reliability over a long range of 1 km/3,000 ft. Data is reliably transferred using frequency hopping and a proprietary protocol, making malicious intrusion impossible. The system does not affect other wireless devices in the 2.4 GHz ISM band. An alarm output is available in case of radio link loss.
