Honeywell's high-performance TARS-IMU sensor suite reports vehicle angular velocity, acceleration, and tilt data (six degrees of freedom).
The TARS-IMU device measures important vehicle characteristics and improves efficiency and productivity by reporting key data needed to automate and monitor the movements of vehicle systems and components. With two sensor models for different power levels, the TARS-IMU sensor suite is compatible with vehicle power systems ranging from 5V to 9V to 36V.
The sensor fusion algorithm can be customized for specific vehicle applications via embedded firmware, allowing motion data to be filtered to minimize unwanted noise and vibrations and improve position accuracy. Communication is transmitted using industry-standard CAN J1939 connectivity. As standard, the TARS-IMU component is factory calibrated to aerospace-grade velocity tables to ensure greater calibration consistency across units.
The operating temperature range is from -40°C to +85°C. The TARS-IMU sensor assembly is housed in a rugged PBT thermoplastic enclosure and is IP67 and IP69K certified for use in harsh environments. A metal shield is also available for added protection.
