“Our solutions allow us to detect people, other vehicles, traffic lights, or road signs and define their position on the road. This information, along with the video footage, is transmitted to the car's electronic control systems, improving driving assistance to make it safer and more autonomous,” explains David Cantero, a researcher at Tekniker.
The data obtained contains high-value information that can be used to activate alarms, for example, to alert of the proximity of other vehicles or pedestrians, information on the need to adjust the speed to that allowed on the road, or the indication of the state of the traffic lights.
Depending on the level of autonomy defined for the system, it can inform the driver of these alarm situations or act effectively on the car's controls to respond in advance and avoid a dangerous situation.
The technology center's solution, which incorporates artificial vision and deep learning, seeks to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of ADAS systems and is part of the electronic system manufactured by the company Masermic.
The increasing integration of technology into these systems means their size is growing. Therefore, special attention has been paid to miniaturizing the assembly during design and development, so that it occupies the least possible space on the windshield and does not interfere with the driver's field of vision.
This vision system, developed and manufactured by Masermic, has been integrated into the SmartBracket support of Oribay Group Automotive, as part of the group's commitment to the digitalization of its automotive solutions.
