Furthermore, these are Microchip's first UCH2 drives compatible with USB 2.0 and USB High Speed Interchip (HSIC) connectivity, offering maximum battery life through low-power modes such as Link Power Management (LPM). They also have the ability to replace wall chargers with advanced battery charging modes, including BC1.2, Apple®, SE1, and China charging. For applications requiring communication via various protocols, these UCH2 drives incorporate direct I/O bridging for I2C™, SPI, UART, and general-purpose I/O. They are also characterized by their flexibility to adapt to various operating systems, including vendor-specific messaging and FlexConnect for single-port inversions.
Microchip's seven new UCH2 controllers, spread across three families, address these needs for both PC and mobile manufacturers. Unlike competitors' USB 2 controller hubs, which offer only limited battery charging and require external memory for configuration, Microchip's new UCH2 controllers integrate a Quad Page configuration of OTP Flash memory, reserving space for interoperability and other custom settings by the designer, including four configuration options. Furthermore, Microchip simplifies the generation of
configuration settings and OTP memory programming through its new ProTouch Configuration Editor software tool, also announced today.
The ProTouch Configuration Editor software tool is bundled with the ProLink programming software and is available for free download at microchip.com/get/2M4E. Also announced is the USB2534 evaluation board (EVB-USB2534), which is now available. This board is suitable for developing USB charging designs using the new UCH2 USB253X family, which consists of three models for the most common USB2 applications.
The USB-IF certified UCH2 USB2532-1080AEN, USB2533-1080AEN, and USB2534-1080AEN families, designed for common USB applications, are now available for sampling and volume production in 36-pin QFN packages. For USB HSIC connectivity and I/O bridging applications, the UCH2 USB4624-1080HN and USB4604-1080HN families are now available for sampling and volume production in 48-pin QFN packages. For mobile USB applications, the UCH2 USB3813-1080XY and USB3613-1080XY families, in 30-pin WLCSP packages, are now available for sampling, with volume production scheduled for July.
