The added sensing channels are critical to achieving higher levels of accuracy, linearity, support for smaller fingers, and the ability to distinguish between several fingers close to each other.
The CY8CTMA884 offers all the advantages users expect from TrueTouch devices, including 10-finger touch support, low power consumption, grip and palm rejection, high accuracy, and fast scan times. This family of devices will be supported by all major tablet operating systems, and Cypress is working closely with leading ITO sensor suppliers, providing designers with flexibility, optimal performance, and quality. Cypress's TrueTouch platform for large displays extends its leadership in small displays for portable electronics—such as terminals and handheld navigation devices—to large displays for laptops and tablets. The devices are available now, and full production for major customers is planned for the end of the first quarter.
“The tablet market continues to grow rapidly, and touchscreen capabilities are a critical factor for these products,” said Derek Richardson, Director of the Large Touchscreen Business Unit at Cypress. “Cypress is the first to offer a single-chip device serving this market. This further solidifies our leadership in small- and large-size touchscreen solutions, as evidenced by our numerous Tier 1 customer agreements.”.
Cypress offers the broadest range of capacitive touchscreen solutions on the market, including single-touch, multi-touch gesture, and all-point multi-touch models. Cypress was the first company to introduce all-point multi-touch functionality, which can track 10 or more touches simultaneously. This all-point multi-touch solution has been in mass production since 2008. TrueTouch is the most flexible touchscreen architecture on the market, allowing designers to implement differentiated functions and make last-minute design variations without requiring board changes. Furthermore, TrueTouch devices offer Cypress's best-in-class noise immunity with patented capacitive sensing technology, enabling error-free operation in noisy RF and LCD environments.
