Today, CAN is widely used in various industrial applications. Operators face several challenges, as it requires integrated isolation and a robust interface to withstand noisy environments. Furthermore, they risk communication failures due to transceiver input faults/shorts, system robustness against electrostatic discharge (ESD) shocks, and large ground switching events in industrial settings.
The family of high-speed transceivers incorporates integrated galvanic isolation up to 5 kV with failover protection and ±15 kV ESD HBM (Human Body Model) protection to increase uptime in harsh environments. They operate at up to the maximum high-speed CAN data rate of 1 Mbps and feature ±54 V failover protection at the receiver inputs. Available in industry-compliant pinouts, the transceivers are housed in a wide-body, 16-pin SOIC package with 8 mm of leakage and clearance and operate in a temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.
