The rapid evolution and widespread adoption of AI technologies increasingly demand stable operation and greater energy efficiency in servers equipped with generative AI and high-performance GPUs. Especially in hot-swappable circuits, power MOSFETs with a wide SOA are essential for managing inrush current and overload conditions, ensuring stable operation. Furthermore, in data centers and AI servers, the transition to 48V power supplies, which offer higher energy conversion efficiency, is accelerating in an energy-saving context. This necessitates the development of high-voltage, high-efficiency power supply circuits capable of meeting these demands.
Therefore, ROHM has expanded its range of 100V power MOSFETs, ideal for hot-swapping circuits in AI servers, to meet market demand. The new RS7P200BM adopts a compact DFN5060-8S package (size 5060), enabling even higher density assembly compared to the “RY7P250BM” AI server power MOSFET in the DFN8080-8S package (size 8.0 mm × 8.0 mm), which ROHM launched in May 2025.
The new product achieves a low on-resistance (RDS(on)) of 4.0 mΩ (conditions: VGS=10 V, ID=50 A, Ta=25 °C) while maintaining a wide SOA of 7.5 A at a pulse width of 10 ms and 25 A at 1 ms under operating conditions of VDS=48 V. This balance between low on-resistance and a wide SOA, which is typically a trade-off, helps suppress heat generation during operation, thereby improving the efficiency of the server power supply, reducing the cooling load, and lowering electricity costs.
Mass production of the new product began in September 2025. The product is also available for purchase online through online retailers such as DigiKey and Mouser.
ROHM will continue to expand its product range for 48V power supplies, which are increasingly used in applications such as AI servers. By providing highly efficient and reliable solutions, we will help reduce power loss and cooling loads in data centers, as well as improve the high reliability and energy efficiency of server systems.
