They offer a robust, space-saving enclosure that accommodates a variety of wire-to-board applications and meets the industry standard for 1.27mm pitch flat cable. They are available in 4 to 26 circuits. Suitable applications include vehicle infotainment systems, telecommunications equipment, industrial power supplies, solar converters and inverters, portable heart monitors, and office equipment. Molex has now expanded the Picoflex family to include reverse-footprint SMT headers, with and without locking mechanisms, providing a cost-effective alternative second source system without the need for expensive board redesign.
Molex Picoflex connectors save space with a connection height of only 6.40 mm in vertical mating configurations, 15% less than traditional 1.27 mm connector systems. The robust, one-piece upper housing also provides excellent cable retention and is ideal for space-constrained applications. A key feature of the highly reliable contacts is a four-point interface with the cable and two-point contact between the header and the receptacle. The Molex Picoflex connector range also offers excellent polarization both on the PCB and between the female connector and the header.
Several Picoflex connector series are available, including: through-hole, high-temperature, and right-angle headers; SMT with a positive locking feature that provides an additional 50% retention; a low-profile SMT header that creates a double-sided board effect with a single-sided SMT process for easy assembly; a vertical pass-through header made of high-temperature 4/6 nylon for infrared compatibility; and others. New Picoflex SMT headers with reverse footprints include the reverse footprint, the 93405 series vertical header, the 93407 series reverse footprint SMT vertical header, and the 90327 series low-profile IDT connector.
