The MLX80302 is a three-phase BLDC motor driver IC with a maximum control capacity of 2.6 A. It is ideal for automotive and motorcycle pump applications up to 20 W with a 13 V battery voltage. It is also suitable for a wide range of household appliance and industrial pump applications up to 40 W with a regulated 24 V supply.

The controller boasts a wide junction temperature operating range from -40°C to +150°C. With its 0.25 Ohm drivers, the MLX80302 provides a powerful monolithic pump driver in an SOIC8 footprint. Requiring only reverse polarity protection and a single decoupling capacitor, it is ideally suited for integration into a pump connector.

The MLX80302 features comprehensive built-in protection, including locked rotor, over-temperature, over-voltage, short-circuit, and current limiting. The motor control system has been validated for rugged operation in remote motor locations and extremely noisy environments, with testing including BCI and ignition coil noise injection. Its fast starting time (less than 50 ms) is robust under both loaded and unloaded conditions.

The MLX80302 is programmable via an I2C interface, and all options are configurable in the onboard EEPROM. Several PWM input options can be selected, and the engine start procedure can be configured to reach the maximum speed expected for pressurized fuel pumps in less than 60 ms. The MLX80302 is available in an SOIC8 bare-chip package.

Plug and play application cards and evaluation cards are now available for configuring the IC via I2C using a graphical interface.
